Global Day of Play
On Late Start, February 7th, we will have a Day of Play! Our goal is to raise awareness about the necessity of unstructured play. Watch this informative video about Global Day of Play.
Here are some school wide guidelines:
- Students can bring toys from home as long as they are not dangerous or electronic.
- Toys may NOT require batteries or electricity. No devices.
- The only exception on the electronics rule would be a board game that has an electronic timer, an electronics play kit, or similar.
- No toys that simulate weapons.
- Some ideas: board games, dolls, Legos, blocks, trucks, cars, race tracks, playing cards, empty cardboard boxes, markers, jigsaw puzzles, blankets (for forts), social games (charades, Pictionary, etc.)
- We cannot be responsible for lost or stolen items so please keep those special items at home.
PLAY! NO SCREENS – NO STRUCTURE – ALL DAY LONG

iPad Insurance
If you did not purchase the insurance for your child’s iPad, you may still do so at the half year rate of $12.50. Purchasing the insurance will cover your child’s iPad for the rest of the school year and through the summer. We ask that you seriously consider doing this. Most “fixes” are upwards of $270, a lost or stolen iPad is upwards of $470 for replacement. For more information about iPad insurance and what it covers, please click this link.
iPads will need to be inspected for damage before insurance can be paid. If you are interested, please email Beth Colvin [email protected] or Jennifer Talbott at [email protected]
Centennial Elementary Career Fair
Centennial Elementary School will be hosting a Career Fair on April 19 (from 1:30-3:30pm)! We are excited to give our 4th and 5th grade students a close-up view of a variety of possible career paths. Through this process, 4th and 5th grade students will take an interest survey, and then explore careers they are interested in. As students start to think of where their passions lie, they begin to make connections between the real world and their daily learning.
During our Career Fair, the community members and leaders will share insights about their careers and the necessary education and training for career success. Our students will interact with these adults as they explore the different booths set up in the gymnasium. Students will be invited to ask questions and consider which careers pique their interests.
Volunteers needed! We are hoping to find two businesses from each of the career clusters (see Colorado Career Cluster Model) to participate in our Career Fair. This model categorizes all careers into one of six categories listed below;
- Agriculture, Natural Resources & Energy
- Business, Marketing & Public Administration
- Hospitality, Human Services & Education
- Health Science, Criminal Justice & Public Safety
- Skilled Trades & Technical Sciences
- STEM, Arts, Design & Information Technology
Agriculture, Natural Resources & Energy
If you are interested in participating by setting up a table (or booth) during our Career Fair, please fill out our quick survey. We can facilitate 2-3 businesses per career cluster.
Thank you for your interest in our Career Fair! We look forward to learning from you!

Attendance Information
Thank you to all students who continue to Strive for Five or less absences for this school year. Our school attendance rate is 94.39% and we had 156 students with perfect attendance for December. We continue to strive for a 96% attendance rate at each grade level and as a whole school. Each month this is accomplished, grade levels earn an extra recess and our reward for the whole school will be sliming Dr. Jirik/Mrs. Coniglio. Let’s keep our attendance going strong this Spring, Huskies!!
PBIS
