A Note from the Principal:
Centennial is full of amazing kids who show kindness every day! From helping a friend tie their shoes to sharing materials, these little acts make a BIG difference. Let’s celebrate some of the ways our students are spreading kindness:
- Catching Kindness: Students are catching each other showing kindness and passing it on!
- Helping Hands: Our kids are always ready to lend a hand. They help teachers clean up, carry books for classmates, and even help younger students during their recess time. Way to go, helpers!
- Words of Cheer: A kind word can brighten someone’s day. Our students are practicing using words like “please,” “thank you,” and “you’re welcome.” They’re also learning to give compliments and cheer each other on. Super sweet!
- Kindness Certificate: Staff members have been catching students being kind and award them a Kindness Certificate to recognize their good deed.
Kindness is contagious! When we see others being kind, it inspires us to be kind too. Let’s keep the kindness flowing at our school! Go Huskies!!

How sick is too sick?
We would like to send a reminder about keeping our school and community healthy. St Vrain Valley School District follows Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) guidance for routine decisions about when children should stay home from school. Guidance regarding most symptoms can be found in the “How sick is too sick?” document.
Key points include:
- Please do not send your student to school if he/she is experiencing symptoms that require him/her to stay home.
- Fever is considered a temperature of 100.4° or higher. The child may return to school or child care if the fever has been resolved for 24 hours without fever-reducing medications.
- For vomiting, the child may return 24 hours after their last episode of vomiting.
This guidance applies throughout the school year, but is especially important during the cold and flu season. For questions, please reach out to Jenn Byxbe or our health clerk, Karley Benyamna.

Attendance —
Our current attendance rate for Centennial is 94.16%. Students continue to earn an extra recess each month they meet their attendance rate goal of 95% as a class. If we as a school reach 96%, we will slime Mrs. Byxbe/Mrs. Coniglio. Please see this video from Attendance Works about the impact of attendance on students and their future.

PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Support)
Our students continue to talk about TRACK during Husky Huddles. Did you know classrooms participate in community building by circling up together and talking more about qualities like perseverance, growth mindset and empathy? Students have also been talking about Kindness for National Random Acts of Kindness Day on February 17th. Students worked on sharing kind letters of love with grade level classes (thanks Mrs. Larson!) and have been earning Kindness certificates from teachers for all of the kind actions they are sharing with one another.

The Health Office is in need of clothing donations. We are most in need of boys underwear in sizes S/M/L, M and L sweatpants and girls M and L leggings and underwear sizes S/M. Thank you so much!
IPad Insurance is a LifeSaver
Did you miss the window to pay for your child’s IPad Insurance? It’s not too late! Half Year Insurance is now available. The cost is $12.50 per IPad. You can still enroll in insurance provided that someone at Centennial completes an inspection of the iPad first. If it is damaged, the iPad may not be enrolled in insurance until the fee for the existing damage is paid. Please visit the school office today for IPad inspection and insurance payment. Click on the link below to read about what IPad insurance covers and why it is so valuable.
