Student Council
Join us by dressing up for Career Day is on Weds., Oct 1st. Dress up for your favorite/dream career that you hope to have in the future!

During the fall, all grade levels focus on a district-identified Social-Emotional Learning topic, which is provided as a full classroom lesson by our school counselor, Ms. Lawrence.
Over the last two weeks, Ms. Lawrence has been visiting all of the Kindergarten and 1st grade classrooms with her very friendly school pet, Sapphie the Husky. Sapphie and Ms. Lawrence have been teaching students how to identify many different emotions and feelings, with the help of Sapphie’s personal book titled; “Sapphie, the Dog with Feelings”.
After learning what it means to “Identify” and reading Sapphie’s book together, students helped Sapphie recognize her different feelings using husky-inspired emoji flash cards. Each student enjoyed a special 1:1 hug from Sapphie at the end of the lesson, too! Ms. Lawrence has attached a link to the flash cards, if parents would like to review them at home.

Ms. Lawrence will start to make her rounds through 2nd grade classrooms soon, with a focus on emotional self regulation.

Gifted and Talented Referrals
Each year, schools in St. Vrain Valley School District complete a process to identify students who demonstrate exceptional ability or performance in one or more academic areas and may, therefore, qualify for Gifted/Talented educational services. These students usually perform at least two years above grade level in their strength area(s), and they require additional academic challenges in order to support their continued educational growth and progress. In addition, they usually demonstrate characteristics of unique creativity and high motivation in their strength areas.
Referrals are open through the month of September and will close on the last day of the month. Referrals after that date will be addressed on a case by case basis. Completing a referral guarantees a review of the student profile to determine if testing is recommended for the student. The process for identification requires a body of evidence and often takes place throughout the school year.
The process takes approximately 5-10 minutes to complete.

Our current attendance rate is 95%. When grade levels have 95% or higher attendance rates for the month, they earn an extra recess. 3rd and 4th grade are in the lead right now. Let’s see who will win the Attendance Trophy for the month of September!
435 out of students have attendance rates that are 90% or higher! Letters sharing this amazing achievement are going home in Friday folders this week and next.

PBIS
Students continue to practice and perfect their TRACK behavior – Trust, Respect, Attitude, Cooperation and Keeping Safe. Classes have set new Class PAW goals for the month of September. Students are working toward earning a Game Day.
We have so many students earning Purple PAWSitive Office Referrals by going above and beyond with helping and demonstrating TRACK.
