3rd Grade Student – Bronson Hiatt

A note from the Principal:

Dear Families,

As Thanksgiving approaches, I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for your continued support of Centennial Elementary. Your partnership is invaluable in creating a warm and nurturing learning environment for our students.

We have had a strong and successful start to our school year, and that is not possible without your support. From volunteering in classrooms to attending school events, your dedication has made a significant difference. Your contributions, both big and small, have helped us create a vibrant school community where every child feels valued and inspired.

We wish you and your families a joyous Thanksgiving break filled with love, laughter, and peace.

With Gratitude,

Jenn Byxbe, Principal

Centennial Giving Tree

For those who would like to donate for our 2024 Centennial Giving Tree event, please visit the front office, between Nov 18th – Dec 6th, to select a tag from our giving tree box that describes the item(s) needed/wanted and sign out the tag on our log. Purchase the item(s); we ask that you spend a minimum of $10 and a maximum of $50. Wrap the gift and attach the tag to the gift. Return the gifts to the office no later than December 13th.

If you miss out on getting a tag, gift cards are also a wonderful way to bless these families and can be brought to the front office.

About Book Fair eWallet

Give your child a safe, cashless way to shop at the Book Fair. This digital payment option can be used at the in-school Book Fair or online at the Virtual Book Fair, where you’ll discover an expanded selection of over 5,000 products. Plus, every purchase benefits our school!

How It Works:

– Create an account for each child

– Add funds

– Invite family and friends to contribute

– Shop the Book Fair

– Spend unused funds online or fund an eWallet for your next Fair!

After the Fair, remaining eWallet funds are not returned to a credit card but instead they become a gift card balance that can be used online with Scholastic or to fund an eWallet for a future Book Fair. Be sure to sign in with the same email used to create the eWallet.

Cold Weather…Brrrrrrrrrr

As we are heading into this season when we may have some days with colder weather, please be sure to help your child be most successful.

  • If the weather feels like 20 degrees or below, we will have indoor recesses.
  • Have your child bring a warm coat and hat/gloves as needed.
  • We ask that students have snow pants and boots if they would like to play in the field when there is snow on the ground.
  • Our school district and school will communicate with our community if we have weather that requires us to move from in-person learning to an online learning day.

DO YOU HAVE A PASSION FOR ROBOTICS?

Are you interested in supporting the 2024-2025 Vex Robotics team for our Centennial 4th and 5th grade students? We are looking for 2 adult volunteers to coach our Vex Robotics team for this school year. Students typically meet for this extracurricular activity 1 day per week after school for 2 hours and then every other Saturday for 4 hours. They prepare their robots in preparation for our St Vrain Valley School District Competition which students would participate in and is hosted at one of our St Vrain Valley schools. Please reach out to Jenn Byxbe (Principal) @ [email protected] if you have interest or have questions about this opportunity. We appreciate your consideration for leading our students!”

Attendance Update

Hello Families! Our current attendance rate for Centennial is 95.11% and we strive for 96% or higher.

As we go into a new season, we wanted to share our district’s guidance for How Sick is Too Sick for attendance. This guidance is very helpful when knowing when students can come to school and for times that are best to keep them home. If a student is feeling healthy, we encourage them to come to school, every day so their absences do not continue to increase.

Chronic Absenteeism is defined as missing 10 percent or approximately 18 days per academic year, both excused and unexcused. That’s just two days a month. Absences, even when excused can add up and negatively impact academic achievement. Click here to learn more from our SVVS Attendance page.

Please let us know how we can work as a team to support your child with consistent attendance at school. You can reach out to Sarah Coniglio at [email protected] or call 720-652-8240 to talk more.

~Sarah Coniglio, Dean of Students

IPad Insurance is a LifeSaver

Did you miss the window to pay for your child’s IPad Insurance? It’s not too late! You can still enroll in insurance provided that someone at Centennial completes an inspection of the iPad first. If it is damaged, the iPad may not be enrolled in insurance until the fee for the existing damage is paid. Please visit the school office today for IPad inspection and insurance payment.
