Attendance
Welcome back to school! We are so happy to see everyone and every day of learning counts toward a child’s success! We are encouraging students and families to take the pledge (sent home in Friday folders last week) to Strive for Five. Students and families will strive toward 5 absences for the school year and together as a school, we strive for a 95% attendance rate. When a student misses more than 10 days for the school year, they are considered chronically absent. Please let us know how we can partner together to support daily attendance!
Picture Day
Picture Day is Wednesday, September 11th. Order forms will be going home next week in Friday folders. More information coming soon!
Drop-Off/Pick-Up Reminders
- We ask that everyone uses the crosswalk at the front of our building to walk students to class. Please note that there is not a crosswalk at the end of our parking lot.
- If parking in our lot, park in a dedicated parking space.
- If you are using the drop-off/pick-up lane, please drive past the sign in our car line that says “Student Drop Off ” before allowing your child(ren) to get out or into your car.
- Continue to move forward in the drive line, guided by the adults waving everyone on.
- The bus loop is not a drop off lane and do not walk across the bus loop.
- Playground Before & After School
Please help us remind your student(s) that the playground area is unavailable before and after school. We do not have the proper supervision for students on the playground during these times and want to avoid any possible injury. Thank you!
We appreciate all of your support with drop-off and pick-up in order for it to run as smoothly and efficiently as possible. Thank you for your help!

Gifted and Talented Referrals
Each year, schools in St. Vrain Valley School District complete a process to identify students who demonstrate exceptional ability or performance in one or more academic areas and may, therefore, qualify for Gifted/Talented educational services. These students usually perform at least two years above grade level in their strength area(s), and they require additional academic challenges in order to support their continued educational growth and progress. In addition, they usually demonstrate characteristics of unique creativity and high motivation in their strength areas.
Referrals are open through the month of September and will close on the last day of the month. Referrals after that date will be addressed on a case by case basis. Completing a referral guarantees a review of the student profile to determine if testing is recommended for the student. The process for identification requires a body of evidence and often takes place throughout the school year.
The process takes approximately 5-10 minutes to complete.

A note from the Principal:
At Centennial, we support PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) by reinforcing positive behaviors and honoring the great choices and actions of students throughout their day. Teachers and staff hand out TRACKS for showing Trust, Respect, Attitude, Cooperation and Keeping Safe.
Click here to learn more about how you can talk with your child(ren) about PBIS at home. We are dedicated to providing students a safe and welcoming school where everyone belongs. We believe in our shared partnership to support student success. ~Jenn Byxbe (Principal) and Sarah Coniglio (Dean)
Important Reminders:
- iPad Insurance
We highly encourage all families to purchase (optional) iPad insurance through the SVVSD Learning Technology Plan. This $25.00/year fee helps cover your students iPad from damage and/or replacement costs. The insurance coverage plan is for one academic year only and needs to be renewed annually. The easiest way to pay the $25.00/year fee is online through Infinite Campus. You may also pay the fee with cash or check (made payable to Centennial Elementary School) during regular office hours. iPad insurance fees need to be paid before September 13th, 2024.
- Code of Conduct for the 2024-2025 school year
Dear Centennial students and families,
Thank you for your partnership and supporting the academic growth, safety, and well-being of our students. Every year, St. Vrain Valley Schools prints an up-to-date version of the Code of Conduct for students and families to review. This important document guides students and school staff on what expectations for school conduct and the consequences for behaviors that fall outside of those expectations. It is important that families review this information every year and acknowledge their receipt and understanding of this document.
To this end, please click here to access an electronic version of the Code of Conduct for the current school year. After you have reviewed this information, all families must sign an electronic acknowledgement that they have received, read, and understand the information contained, including the Annual Notification to Parents/Guardians; Behavioral Code of Conduct; Rights and Responsibilities of Students and Parents; and Board of Education Policies book. To sign your electronic acknowledgement, please follow the steps described here.
Again, thank you for your continued partnership and support. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me directly at [email protected].
Sincerely,
Jennifer Byxbe, Principal
