A Note from the Principal:

Dear Families,

On behalf of the entire staff at Centennial, I want to wish you and your families a joyous and restful Winter Break!

As we approach this well-deserved break, I want to express our sincere pride in our students’ hard work and growth throughout the first semester. We have witnessed incredible dedication, resilience, and a genuine love of learning from each and every one of them.

We understand that this time of year can be busy, but we encourage you to prioritize family time, relaxation, and enjoying the winter season. Whether you’re spending time outdoors, reading together, or simply enjoying each other’s company, we hope you create lasting memories.

We look forward to welcoming students back to school on January 7th, 2025.

We appreciate your continued support and partnership in your child’s education. We wish you a safe and happy holiday season!

Sincerely,

Jenn Byxbe, Principal

Attendance  — Our current attendance rate for Centennial is 94.86%. Congratulations to 1st, 3rd and 5th grade for continuing to keep a high attendance rate at 95% or higher and earning an extra recess for December. 1st grade continues to hold the trophy for the highest attendance rate for our school. Thank you for making attendance a priority for your child(ren) and we wish you a wonderful Winter Break!

We have partnered with the Colorado Rapids to reward and incentivize attendance here at Centennial Elementary by giving students who have no days missed, from January 13th – February 4th, a chance to win a complimentary ticket to a Colorado Rapids match in the Spring.

The Rapids boast one of the most family-friendly and fun game day experiences in town. Students who qualify will receive a ticket link voucher to redeem their complimentary ticket with purchase of additional discounted tickets. Vouchers will be redeemable for select Spring dates. Please reach out to Sarah Coniglio, Dean of Students, with any questions!

PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports)

Congratulations to our CNEL Huskies for earning so many Class Paws for the month of December. Mrs. Byxbe and I will call for all Class PAWS on Thursday, January 9th to see if we have earned enough for our school-wide reward.

Safety Patrol – 2nd Term Applications

Calling all 4th and 5th grade students! Are you looking for a leadership opportunity to help our Centennial community? We are in need of students to serve for our 2nd Term Safety Patrol term. These students help support traffic flow in our car line, at the bus loop and at crosswalks to ensure safety for all. Applications went home with students this week and are due by January 8th.

Please email Denise Magdaleno at [email protected] or Sarah Coniglio at [email protected] if you have questions!

The Health Office is in need of clothing donations. We are most in need of boys underwear in sizes S/M/L, M and L sweatpants and girls M and L leggings and underwear sizes S/M. Thank you so much!

Cold Weather…Brrrrrrrrrr

As we are heading into this season when we may have some days with colder weather, please be sure to help your child be most successful.

  • If the weather feels like 20 degrees or below, we will have indoor recesses.
  • Have your child bring a warm coat and hat/gloves as needed.
  • We ask that students have snow pants and boots if they would like to play in the field when there is snow on the ground.
  • Our school district and school will communicate with our community if we have weather that requires us to move from in-person learning to an online learning day.

Lost and Found

Students, your stuff misses YOU too! Please take a moment to stop by the Lost and Found area to check for your missing things!

IPad Insurance is a LifeSaver

Did you miss the window to pay for your child’s IPad Insurance? It’s not too late! You can still enroll in insurance provided that someone at Centennial completes an inspection of the iPad first. If it is damaged, the iPad may not be enrolled in insurance until the fee for the existing damage is paid. Please visit the school office today for IPad inspection and insurance payment. Click on the link below to read about what IPad insurance covers and why it is so valuable.
